Hole in One : Key Stages 3 and 4: Age range 11 - 16
Outline of the games
The 'Hole in One' Amateur and Professional courses requires pupils to use their knowledge of squares and roots to estimate possible values for a number which lies between two others.
How to use the software
Hole in One: Each hole will generate a question in the form of a < x˛ < b. (The difference between a and b is greater on the amateur course than the professional course.) The player, using the calculator provided, must estimate a possible value for x. Each time the x˛ button is pressed on the calculator a stroke will be played. There are a total of nine holes and a scorecard is presented after the last hole has been played.
